Scott P. Fischer, M.D.

Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Fischer is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. He is one of the managing partners of the Orthopaedic Specialty Institute where his clinical practice is devoted to the treatment of injuries and orthopaedic disorders of the shoulder and knee.

Dr. Fischer is a guest lecturer in shoulder and upper extremity surgery at the Wrightington Hospitals in Wigand, England where the original, pioneering work in total joint replacement surgery took place. He has been a Master Instructor for the Arthroscopy Association of North American at their Orthopaedic Learning Center for many years, and has been grand rounds lecturer at the University of California, Irvine Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Mark N. Halikis, M.D.

Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Halikis is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. He has completed an accredited fellowship in hand surgery and earned a Certificate of Added Qualification in surgery of the hand from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a managing partner of Orthopaedic Specialty Institute of Orange County.

Dr. Halikis is an Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, Irvine. He is chief of hand surgery service at the Veterans' Affairs Medical Center, Long Beach and attending physician of the pediatric and congenital hand surgery service at Children's Hospital of Orange County. He is involved in orthopaedic resident education at both hospitals. He is chairman of the department of orthopaedic surgery at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, CA.

William Metzger, M.D.

Gastroenterologist

Dr. William Metzger has been practicing clinical gastroenterology and hepatology (the study of liver diseases) for over thirty years, moving to Orange County after completing a gastroenterology fellowship at UCLA Medical Center. He is board certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology and has been a clinical instructor in internal medicine and gastroenterology at UCI Medical Center. He has been Chief of the Department of Internal Medicine at Saint Joseph Hospital for two years and a member of the Executive Committee for four years. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, as well as the Orange County Medical Association.

Carlos A. Prietto, M.D.

Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Carlos Prietto is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty training in sports medicine. He is the managing partner of Orthopaedic Specialty Institute of Orange County where his clinical practice is devoted to arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and knee, sports medicine, and knee replacements.

A native Californian, Dr. Prietto completed both his Bachelor of Arts and Masters Degree in Education at Gonzaga University. He taught high school science and coached basketball for a short period before going on to medical school and graduating from the University of California, Irvine with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. His internship was performed at Los Angeles - USC Medical Center and an orthopaedic residency at the University of California, Irvine. A sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic in Inglewood, CA followed thereafter.

Miguel P. Prietto, M.D.

Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Miguel Prietto is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon. He is a general partner of the Orthopaedic Specialty Institute in Orange County where his practice is focused on sports medicine, arthroscopic and reconstructive knee and shoulder surgery, and knee replacements.

Dr. Prietto has a clinical practice and devotes much of his time to treatment of athletes. He is team physician for the athletic programs at California State University, Fullerton, Chapman University and Santa Ana College. Dr. Prietto received a Bachelor of Science degree from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. He earned his medical degree at the University of California, Irvine, College of Medicine, receiving the student Humanitarian Award. Dr. Prietto did his surgical internship at Los Angeles County - USC Medical Center.
